It has been almost two years since the Michaluk Virus outbreak began, and Remy Angellette has helped her friends establish Woodside, a walled-in community of survivors in South Carolina. But underneath the veneer of simplicity of their day-to-day lives, not all is as it seems. Dr. Derek Rivers, a former CDC scientist who was involved in the virus’s testing, has come close to a cure for the virus, and he’s used it to cure Ethan Bennett—who promptly begins to show strange side-effects from the cure. Despite her pleas, Derek delays giving the cure to Remy, who has found herself beginning to dance a fine line between sanity and madness as the virus continues its relentless attack on her brain.

When Dominic Jackson smuggles Remy out of the community on a supply run and brings back a set of twins that they’ve rescued, hundreds upon hundreds of infected follow them back to Woodside. Within hours, the community is besieged by the infected, who attack the main gates and slowly begin to surround the community. Desperate to get the cure and all the information about it out of Woodside before the infected get in, two members of the community pack the doctor’s samples and notes and slip out of Woodside to search for a still-operational CDC facility—but not before Remy steals a dose of the cure and injects herself with it.

As the community’s gates collapse under the assault from the other side, one of the community’s members manages to get in touch with the military, begging them for assistance before they all end up dead. But will they be able to survive until the military shows up to help them—or will they end up dead at the hands of the infected after nearly two years of survival?

The Becoming Under Siege Book 4 The Becoming Series eBook Jessica Meigs

Under Siege, the fourth book in the series, is the best damn zombie novel that I read in 2014, to date. I feel like I need a sedative to calm down after the dramatic cliff-hanger. It's definitely the best of the series so far.

Ethan's group (including Cade, Brandt and Remy) have survived their encounter with Alicia Day. They rescued some of the survivors from the hotel, as well as survivors from Isaac's group, and built a secure community called Woodside, with a tiny population of about 50 people.

Both Ethan and Remy are being treated by the CDC doctor, Derek, and eventually he explains the differences between the Day Strain and the Evans Strain (Brandt's blood, essentially), which offers a lot of hope for the survivors, but also raises many questions about the side effects of the various treatments.

Before long, Remy and Dominic meet a set of twins, Sadie and Jude, who warn Woodside about an approaching horde (hundreds of infected and undead). The siege is further complicated by the arrival of a third party, and Cade's pregnancy (she's now eight months along).

The ending brings a division to Ethan's core group, with two new storylines emerging, creating one of the most jaw-dropping cliff-hangers that I've ever read in the post-apocalyptic horror genre. Meigs has created one of the most dramatic zombie series that I've ever read, and I highly recommend this series to both zombiephiles and horror fans alike!

The Becoming Under Siege Book 4 The Becoming Series eBook Jessica Meigs Reviews

Loved this book! One of the best in the series! Can't wait for the next one... one of the best zombie apocalypse series!
Under Seige continues the The Becoming saga with all of the nail biting intensity found in the earlier books of the series. I am waiting impatiently for the next in the series!!!
Very well written and reads at a great pace ... Please go back to the beginning and start there and then kick back and ENJOY !!! ..
Wonderfully written and exciting right from the beginning. Enjoyed this and anxiously awaiting the next book. A terrific series that leaves you wanting more
I love this series but I found it to quickly. Usually I find them when most or all are written. This was just to long between books. I forget the series because I read so much and love apocalypse books. Hope the next one comes quickly.
I enjoyed the trilogy. The reason I only gave it 3 stars is because the book just drops off and leaves the reader hanging. For instance, what happened to Cade during childbirth in the ambulance? And Derek, Isaac, Remy, Dominique and the twins? How about Gray and his traveling companion trying to get the samples to someone who could continue the research for a cure? What about Brandt and Cade's sister back at the hospital? Please tell me there is another book in the works.
I love this series. It's definitely one of those you can't put down. The characters are well developed and you root for them all the way through. The plot is well written and keeps me up at night past my bedtime because I can't wait to see what happens next. I'm going to be really sad when this series ends.
